OWNER'S PERSONAL PROFILE:
Born October 12th, 1950 (Columbus Day) in Carlisle, PA., John is the third son of a Presbyterian Minister. He lived most of his school life in Newark, Delaware and moved to Buffalo, New York for the last two years of high school. He graduated from Amherst Central High School in Amherst, NY in 1968. John graduated Summa Cum Laude from Fredonia State College in 1972 with a Bachelor of Music degree in music education. He taught instrumental music and general music for one year in the Taconic Hills Central School in Hillsdale, NY before opting to get into the retail end of the music industry. This background has made John's retail store emphasis very much on music education. John also play piano, synthesizer, and saxophone in numerous bands over the past 25 years, including The New Phaze, Group Therapy, Junie Schenck & Solid Gold, and Rhythm Express. John went for schooling in Elkhorn, Wisconsin, at the Badger State Repair facility in 1990 to learn band instrument repairing and is now a member in good standing with the NAPBIRT organization (National Association of Band Instrument Repair Technicians.) In addition to being owner/manager of Chautauqua Music, John does the band instrument repair work.
